Aussie Hoops — Basketball Australia & Victoria’s Official Beginner Program (Ages 4.5 - 7)
A fun and engaging entry-level program designed to introduce young children to basketball in a safe and supportive environment. Aussie Hoops is all about learning new skills, building confidence and having a great time while being active with friends.
Venue Options
• Aqualink Box Hill 4:00, 4:45 & 5:30.
• Sportlink, Vermont South 4:15 & 5:00pm, Programs FULL. Wait List Inquiry
Program Format - Fridays
• 1 x 40-minute session each week
• Term-3 Dates: Friday 17-July to 11-September. 9-weeks

• Train & Play (Foundation / Prep level) - commencing Term-4 2026.
• Modified Competition - Year 1 to Year 3

• Purchase the official reversible Playball–Aussie Hoops singlet, Size-4/5 basketball during the PlayHQ registration. (optional)
• All players should bring: a size-4/5 basketball and a drink bottle each week

JUNIOR BASKETBALL
Playball Basketball conducts Friday After-School Basketball Competition and Training for Boys and Girls at both Aqualink Box Hill and Sportlink Vermont South and local school stadiums.
Playball has run these programs for 30-years, training children from Prep to Year 4 children.
BASKETBALL TRAINING
New to basketball? Join in for a school Term of Basketball Training for your 5 to 7 year old (PREP to YR.2) with the nationally run, AUSSIE HOOPS program.
Playball Basketball conducts Aussie Hoops at both Aqualink Box Hill and Sportlink Vermont South on Fridays.
Have a TRAINING TEAM? Register up to 10-participants. Most cost effective method.
TRAIN & PLAY (Prep only)
Term 4 2026 is where PREP/ foundation Boys and Girls can transition into the much loved Train & Play program - involving training & playing on Fridays.
Train & Play combines a short 15-minute training session with Playball Coaches, followed by a practice game against a different opposition each week on the full court!
- No scores recorded on the clock and no scoresheet. Lowest ring setting of 8.5 feet
- Sessions at Aqualink Box Hill, Roberts McCubbin Primary or Sportslink Vermont. Start Times at 4:00, 4:45, 5:30PM start. (times rotate each Friday)
- Modified rules – easy on violations (travels, double dribbles etc.). Coach-Referees explain all decisions and provide playing advise during games.

Weekly matches for Boys and Girls are held for Year 1 to 3 school level (6 to 9 year olds). Matches are recorded using Play-HQ and I-Pads providing live scores and ladder positions.

All teams that compete and train in Playball Basketball competitions, are covered by Basketball Victoria's Insurance Policy. This includes Sports Injury Insurance and Public Liability Insurance.
